Plane Etiquette

Flying is stressful enough without having to put with impolite or inconsiderate fellow passengers. Here’s how you can become a model air traveler.

1.Accommodate split parties: Give your seat up if you can help friends or families to stay together. You will appreciate the same considerations some day.
2.Air rage: When a flight is delayed or baggage is lost there is little anyone can do even the flight attendants. Address the staff politely.
3.Armrests: Taking up both rests can be construed as an invasion of personal space. Don’t hog more than your share.
4.Baggage: It is nice to make use of the compartments that have been put for baggage and leave the sitting space for just that yes sitting.
5.Don’t block screens: Some airlines have only central screens for their in-flight movie. Don’t stand in the way of other passenger’s viewing pleasure.
6.Chatterboxes: Under any circumstances, it’s impolite to be intrusive, but there are those who just can’t help themselves and start chatting away. It is okay to tell someone something along the lines of you’d prefer to read, but its nice to meet you.
7.Elderly passengers: Do the right thing – get up and help the older person to lift their baggage in to the lockers or exchange seats if they’d be more comfortable in yours.
8.Fat Neighbours: Compassion is truly in the etiquette stakes! Either discreetly ask a flight attendant to move you if possible, or learn to live with it.
9.In and out: You need to stretch your legs or make a bathroom call. Be polite and never grab a seat the table shake if it is down and may cause a spill.
10.Obnoxious Kids: although parent should be able to control their children, sometimes during flights it is impossible to keep them settled. Don’t blame the parents or glare at them, and you will get credit for being understanding.
11.Reclining Seats: Finally you are ready to relax and want to recline your seat. Stop! The person behind you might have a full glass on his table and a sudden jolt will send it flying. Lean back slowly and let him know what you are about to do- he’ll appreciate your sensitivity.

Convenience of Booking a Hotel Online

I am rather excited as a Kenyan firm opens it's doors to online payments and now anyone need not go through dozens of websites and emails. But is it always that easy? Well for 1. Most online booking sites have a range of hotels that you can choose from with their prices known unlike other site where you must first make an email inquiry.
2. The rates offered may be either the same or slightly lower than the rack rates displayed by respective hotels since they sell in bulk for each of the hotels they enjoy huge discount which they can then pass-over to their customers.
on the other hand they could be a few down sides to online booking as well.
1. Well if your are planning a safari or adventure you still have to contact tour operator unless you know where you are really going.
2. it might be a good idea to ask for a confirmation vie email to show you are booked in from the hotel itself.
3. It is necessary to at least do your research even if a range of hotels are listed there is nothing that can compare to a good bargain realised out of thorough research.

More good News on Kenyas Safety 'Your Vacations Can Resume'

I found more good news from the Kenya Toursim Board on this site;
POLITICAL UPDATE:

Today was a momentous occasion in Kenya’s history as the news flashed around the world that an agreement had been signed between the two Kenyan political leaders, President Kibaki and Hon Odinga, to end the political impasse following the disputed elections two months ago and to restore peace and harmony to the country.

The agreement was the result of a five-hour meeting today attended by President Kikwete of Tanzania who is the current Chairman of the African Union, and Mr Kofi Annan who has performed the role of mediator, with the participation of both President Kibaki and Hon Raila Odinga.

At a press conference called this afternoon in Nairobi following the successful conclusion of the meeting, Kofi Annan announced that a power-sharing agreement had been achieved. The political settlement agreed upon by both party leaders has created the new post of Prime Minister, to be held by Raila Odinga, with a coalition government of the two main parties in which cabinet posts would be shared between them. Parliament will convene next Thursday to pass a constitutional amendment to approve the changes agreed upon.
