Conferencing and other tourist sites at the KICC

For some people, the mention of KICC means the tallest building in Kenya. For others it means a fountain and paparazzi at the gate. For many people, it means a centre for hosting conferences and exhibitions for both local as well as international magnitude. Because it is situated in the heart of the city centre and also close to the major hotels in the country, it is a good location for all these activities to take place.
There main business activity is selling space as it boasts of sixteen conference rooms that accommodate between six to two thousand four hundred and forty four people. Examples of these rooms are the; Tsavo Ballroom with a capacity of 2,444 people at a reasonable rate of 292,320 for the whole day, the Comesa room with a sitting capacity of 7,497 people with a rate of 115,710 shillings and last but not least the Shimba Hills rooms with a capacity of 205 people at a mere rate of 42, 630 shillings. Each conference room boasts of a fully quipped computer presentation facility, PA system together with security guards as well as a beautiful well prepared room.
Exhibitions held in the compound go for different rates which vary depending on the number of sponsors organizing the event and the nature of the event and also whether it is during Peak season (tourist boom) or not. There are also conference rooms that are available on hire on depend maybe for wedding committee meeting and the like.
Being the tallest building, KICC also boasts of having a heli-pad where helicopter rides are given to tourists and locals enabling them to see the city design from a birds eye view. Local rates are two hundred shillings only per person per ride while international rates are ten dollars.
At night the KICC lights up the city with the light from the many rooms inside, that create wonderful scenery.
